Devastation..... How many times do we use this word without even thinking about what it really means? Today I was reminded exactly what this word means! Some of you already know this story, so you will have to bear with me.....This morning I received a phone call from a preschool mom... She seemed to be crying. Then as she began the conversation she got more like.... hysterical! I asked her to repeat what she had just said to me because I could not understand her by this point. She took a big breath and stated that their house had caught on fire and burned to the ground. They lost everything. I choked back tears and all I could say was I am soooo sorrry and if there is anything we can do to help..... anything at all.... just let us know.... Of course after hanging up the phone me and my co-workers put our brains together and began thinking of ways to help this family.... As the day progressed we learned that it was thought to be an electrical wiring problem that more than likely began in the wall. We also learned that the Daddy had left for work about 10 minutes before this began. Then there was something amazing that we learned! We found out that there was a man driving by that just happened to see smoke coming out of their home and stopped and started pounding on the door until Jessica answered the door. He got her out immediately and went back in to save the girls. He took his flannel shirt and wrapped the younger girl, 2years old to keep her warm then he actually went back in to save the dogs and cat! The thing is they don't know who this was. This man had saved this family while just driving by! I looked at Stephanie as I had chills run down my arm as I exclaimed, "Maybe he was an angel!"
This type of things really brings everything into perspective! The little things didn't seem to bother me today. Not the family across the street upset that people have parked on their sidewalk and have ran over their water meter etc.... Not the little boy that had a pooping accident and got it literally everywhere (that I had to clean up) lol.... as Ms. Bev. put it "Code Brown" LOL.... None of those things seem to matter. All that mattered was finding a way to help this family.
I want them to know that people love them and that God loves them! I don't want them to question God, I pray that they will just be thankful to Him that he has given people to help take care of them in their time of need.
The video I watched on television and the pictures I have seen on the internet are truly devastating but, the love of God and His people can help you through anything......
Where in the World is Carleta??? Sad.... grieving for a family who has lost everything!!! And Happy that there is a loving caring God to take care of us all in our time of NEED!
